Winter wonderland at the San Francisco Zoo

San Francisco Zoo's winter events:

The San Francisco Zoo brings the holidays to life with a San Francisco style winter wonderland. Santa's special reindeer – Holly, Velvet, Peppermint and Belle – will come to the Bay Area and bring the spirit of the season to children of all ages. Plus, grab your hats and mittens and let the chill nip at your nose with the return of the Zoo's ice skating rink.

The wildly popular event is the only opportunity in the Bay Area to see live reindeer. The female adult reindeer, resplendent in their red holiday harnesses and velvet-like antlers, will romp at Reindeer Romp Village located near the playground. Guests can also jump, spin, glide and slide across the ice to holiday tunes.

On weekends, beginning November 29 through December 23, the Zoo will conduct its traditional "presents for the animals," where critters big and small receive wrapped boxes with some of their favorite treats. Reindeer Romp is free with paid Zoo admission and is available daily, rain or shine.

WHEN: November 24, 2007 – December 31, 2007; Closed Christmas Day: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

COST: Reindeer Romp is free with paid Zoo admissions. Ice skating is not included and will be an additional cost
