Oakland police announce new temp. chief

Oakland Police Chief Wayne Tucker, whose resignation is effective on Saturday, will be replaced temporarily by Assistant Chief Howard Jordan.

Jordan, who has been on the force for two decades, was hand-picked by Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums to be the department's new interim chief, department spokesman Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Tucker announced last month that he is stepping down.
