Rafael Eduardo Martinez, 50, turned his 2007 BMW 328i directly into the path of motorcycle riders Chris and Jessie Young, both 55 of Windsor, on westbound River Road Thursday around 5:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Martinez was preparing to turn left onto southbound Trenton Road. The Youngs were driving east on River Road on a 2003 Harley Davidson and Martinez failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of the riders, the CHP said.

Chris Young tried to avoid a collision but could not stop in time, the CHP said. He and Jessie Young were ejected from the motorcycle and suffered major injuries, the CHP said.

They were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available Saturday morning.
