Surfer rescued near Ocean Beach

Firefighters rescued a surfer from the frigid waters off Ocean Beach in San Francisco today, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire department received a report of a surf rescue just after 2 p.m. in the Richmond District, according to the dispatcher.

Emergency personnel administered CPR on the surfer before he was transported to a local hospital, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The surfer's condition was not immediately available.
