Thomas Browning was arrested for allegedly communicating with a minor on the Internet for the purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior, according to police.
Detectives in Livermore recently learned from a Pennsylvania law enforcement agency that Browning allegedly communicated with an undercover officer who had assumed the identity of a 13-year-old girl in an Internet chat room.
While chatting with the supposed minor, Browning engaged her in sexually explicit conversations, according to police.
The Livermore resident also allegedly made statements in the chat room that he has committed lewd acts with a girl in Livermore. He did not name the juvenile he allegedly molested, police said.
Browning was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
