Saturday, in the hills of Brisbane, volunteers practiced an evacuation. It was also an opportunity for the fire department to practice activating the city's Community Emergency Volunteer Team.
"We're in an area where we're prone to natural disasters and we want people to be prepared," explained Matt Lucett with the Brisbane Fire Department.
The fire department is encouraging people to put together a disaster supply kit, have an family emergency plan and get involved in their community
