The woman was driving a 2002 Toyota sedan north on Cipriani Boulevard when, at about 3:30 p.m., she struck the power pole at Ponce Avenue, causing her car to overturn and the pole to break in half, police said.

Her car landed on its roof with a live power line lying across the overturned vehicle, according to police.

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews responded and temporarily cut power to allow emergency personnel to remove the woman from the car, police said.

She was taken to Stanford Hospital with moderate injuries, according to police.

About 2,200 PG&E customers briefly lost power while crews repaired the damaged pole.
