Donald Fukofuka allegedly stabbed the 29-year-old victim after the victim fell asleep while working at his computer May 31, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Fukofuka is believed to have stabbed the victim repeatedly in the head, neck and chest area before taking the victim's girlfriend's iPhone and fleeing the home in the 600 block of Birch Avenue, the district attorney's office reported.

The victim's girlfriend, who was in the other room, woke up to her boyfriend screaming for help. She called 911 and her boyfriend was transported to a local hospital.

The victim suffered a collapsed lung and required extensive suturing to his head as a result of the stabbing, according to the district attorney's office. He is expected to survive.

Fukofuka was arrested less than a week later after investigators conducted several interviews and collaborated with outside law enforcement agencies, according to San Mateo police.

Fukofuka remains in custody in lieu of $500,000.
