When Kids Fly Alone tips for parents

It raised enough concerns that now the Department of Transportation has put out a guide to help parents if their kids are flying alone. The agency says there are steps you can take to make sure they take off and arrive safely.

Some of those steps are:

  • Book a direct flight to avoid problems during transfers.
  • Avoid booking the last flight of the day in case of delay or cancelation that could strand the child.
  • Ask for a gate pass so you can walk your child through security all the way to the gate.
