"We are saddened by the death of a member of our community and our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends," said Sonoma County health officer Dr. Mary Maddux-Gonzalez. "His death is a reminder that even though most of the H1N1 cases in Sonoma County and the state have been mild or moderate, all flu viruses can be deadly and everyone should remain vigilant in helping to prevent the spread of H1N1 and seasonal flu."

County officials say there has been an increase in the number of H1N1 flu cases reported over the last week.
