8 injured in Visitacion apartment fire

The blaze was reported at 11:13 p.m. Saturday at 2420 Bayshore Boulevard, according to a fire captain. The fire was under control at about 11:45 p.m.

A firefighter was hospitalized after sustaining trauma while fighting the blaze, according to the lieutenant.

The fire also hospitalized seven other people, including three children, the lieutenant said. A police officer was also treated for smoke inhalation and released at the scene, he said.

The American Red Cross responded to provide assistance to the adults and three children who were displaced by the blaze, according to the lieutenant.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
