Sheriff identifies man found dead

Sheriff's investigators have determined that a man found dead on a rural road in Monterey County on Sunday morning was killed by blunt force trauma to the head.

The announcement was made Tuesday after relatives of Froylan Hernandez, a 30-year-old Salinas man, were notified that the man's body had been discovered two days earlier off of San Juan Grade Road at around 9:45 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. An investigation into the man's death is continuing, according to the sheriff's office. Anyone who might have information regarding Hernandez or the circumstances of his death is asked to contact Monterey County sheriff's Investigator Bret Spiers or Investigative Sgt.
