SF residents protest potential cuts to services

More than a dozen low-income residents of San Francisco staged a protest on the steps of City Hall Wednesday over potential cuts to health clinics and social services.

The demonstrators are worried that the burden of the budget deficit will not be shared evenly and that low-income communities will suffer the most.

"At this time the city would think to cut the services that they rely on for survival makes them feel like they're expendable, makes them feel like they're a disposable part of the city, that they're not valued and that their interests are not represented," Shaw San Lieu of the Chinese Progressive Association said.
