Orinda vegetation fire burns 3 acres

A vegetation fire that started near state Highway 24 and raced up a hillside in Orinda this afternoon was controlled about an hour after it began, a Contra Costa Fire Protection District dispatcher said.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 12:45 p.m. near Pablo Moraga Way and burned 3 acres before it was declared under control at 1:49 p.m., according to the dispatcher.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.

The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert for Highway 24 while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
