The special inquest jury, convened by Sheriff-Coroner Warren Rupf to further investigate the drowning of William Maddock on April 29, reached the finding of accidental death after listening to testimony of Shell employees and witnesses and reviewing toxicology reports, according to the sheriff's office.

There had been a question of possible suicide after Maddock's body was found at the bottom of a 1.5 million gallon fresh water tank at the refinery where he had worked for 20 years, according to the sheriff's office.
