The animal was reportedly spotted at 9:45 a.m. behind a home on California Way, emergency officials said.

Residents are reminded not to approach mountain lions and to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk and at night when mountain lions are most active.

In the event of an encounter with a mountain lion, wildlife officials advise facing the animal, making noise, throwing rocks or other objects, and waving arms in the air to try to appear larger.
