The current contract was initially set to expire last Thursday and local union members are in talks for a new long term contract but rumors have swirled that Toyota is preparing to pull out of the plant.
Most recently, a Japanese newspaper reported Saturday that Toyota plans to shutter the plant in March. The union says that has not been confirmed.
GM pulled out of the joint venture in June.
