Two Marin County Sheriffs deputies watched last week's double murder at the Richmond Bridge toll plaza from just 50 feet away, but did nothing to stop the shooter. That's according to a report Wednesday morning in the Contra Costa Times.

According to the paper, the deputies were returning from an unrelated investigation in San Pablo. They pulled over, stopped traffic, and radioed for help, but did not try to stop the killer, or follow him as he drove away.

The article quotes the Marin County sheriff as saying "it's easy to Monday-morning quarterback" and that the deputies might not have seen the same thing at the moment of the shooting.
