Study recommends test to assess stroke risk

A new study recommends a test to identify people who have already had a stroke and are at high risk of another one or a heart attack.

Nearly one-third of stroke patients suffer from peripheral artery disease, a circulation problem caused by clogged arteries.

That condition raises the risk of more incidents.

Now there is evidence a 15 minute test can help alert doctors. It uses a device similar to a blood pressure cuff to compare blood flow in the ankle and arm.
