Southwest may eliminate flights

Southwest Airlines may have to eliminate some flights if the FAA will not give the airline more time to fix an equipment issue. 82 of the airline's fleet of Boeing 737s have exhaust shields that are not government approved.

Though the FAA says the shields do not create a safety issue. The agency demanded all the equipment be changed by today, but Southwest says it needs more time.

Since March, Southwest has changed out equipment on more than 30 of the planes, but says parts to replace the rest are said to be on back order.
