With fires raging in California, scammers may prey on people wanting to help out.
If you get solicited for a donation, make sure you are giving to a real charity, not a scammer.
Here are some tips:
- Don't respond to email solicitations. They may steer you to a phony charity.
- Don't give cash.
- Stick with established charities. Make sure they are registered with the state attorney general.
