One diver is from the Bay Area.
It happened at the Lodi Parachute Center in Acampo yesterday, as the pair were practicing for a national competition.
Officials say the chutes of three divers got entangled during a group jump. One jumper managed to get separated and safely deployed an emergency parachute. However the other two remained tangled and hit the ground.
The sheriff's department has not released their names because deputies are still in the process of notifying family members.
