10 rescued from Oakland apartment building

Oakland firefighters rescued ten people from a burning apartment building Monday morning.

The fire happened around 2:00 at a building in the Grand Lake area on Bellvue Avenue.

Firefighters rescued eight members of two different families from the rear of the building. Crews also rescued two other people from the roof and from a deck.

Officials say the fire was confined to two units; the cause is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is now assisting the two displaced families.
