A new survey by Corporate Library revealed which CEOs got the most compensation, which includes base salary, bonuses and stock options.

At the top of the list is Stephen Schwartzman of Blackstone Group. He took home more than $700 million.

Larry Ellison of Oracle took home more than $556 million.

Rounding out the top three is Ray Irani of Occidental Petroleum Corporation. His compensation totaled more than $222 million.

Seven out of the ten highest paid CEOs in 2008 worked in the petroleum industry.
