SF supervisor running for mayor

With more than two years to go until the election, San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty plans to become the first major candidate to file to run for mayor.

Dufty will be termed out after serving eight years on the board and now has his sights on higher office.

Dufty has been involved in city government for 16 years and says he plans to run a grass roots campaign, just as he did for supervisor.

According to City Hall records, the only other official candidate for mayor is Antonio Mims, who filed last July.

Dufty filed the necessary paperwork Thursday morning at City Hall.
