It happened around 4:00 in the Potrero Hill area. A garbage truck driver told police he saw two men in a van trying several times to knock down the folding metal door at the store on Mariposa Street.

They caused an estimated $30,000 damage to store shelves and merchandise located right behind the door.

The men drove away when the garbage truck arrived. Police are checking the license plate that fell off their van, believed to be stolen.

Investigators are also checking video from store surveillance cameras.
