New breast cancer technologies:
Despite all of the new technology out there, mammograms are still the most important test. At age 40, you should start your yearly mammograms. If pre- menopausal breast cancer runs in your family, start your mammograms at age 30.
One of the trends out there is early diagnosis and detection, which increases the chance of survival.
2009 Women's Health Conference
7:30a.m. - 2p.m.
San Mateo County Event Center
Maya Angelou, internationally acclaimed poet and author, is keynote speaker.
About Mills-Peninsula Health Services:
Its parent non-profit organization, Sutter Health, are partnering with others in the community to host this conference. We are very proud to have Borel Private Bank and Trust join us as presenting sponsor. Our San Mateo County community is the third most diverse in the state, both economically and ethnically. Many segments of our community still experience higher rates of diabetes, heart disease and cancer, all of which can be affected by lifestyle choices. A just completed community health assessment showed little progress in changing those statistics, and we are passionate about turning the numbers around. Our vision is a conference both inspirational and practical, offering interactive instruction, from diet and exercise to managing your financial health.
