Some Marin County preschool children who wrote a book called "The Cat and the Astronaut Become Friends" have become friends with a "real life" astronaut.
The kids at the /*Marin Learning Center*/ in Marin City just received pictures of astronaut Jose Hernandez reading their book. He was on the Shuttle Discovery's recent trip to the space station in August.
The little authors are from economically challenged families and Hernandez spent much of his childhood picking crops in the Central Valley with his immigrant farming family from Mexico.
The children's teacher, Mahealani Bernes, says the children were thrilled and inspired.
