Getting rid of pesky pests in your home

PEST CONTROL AWARENESS:

Homeowners often complain about two major issues regarding pests:

1) Bites and Stings
2) Damage to their homes and lawns

The most common bugs are Argentine ants and grubs.

-- Grubs are the larvae of Japanese beetles. The beetles lay their eggs in your lawn. As the eggs hatch, the larvae will eat the roots of the grass--killing the grass. You will notice large brown spots in your lawn at the end of the summer if you have a grub infestation. At that point, it's too late. If you notice beetles around your house in the Spring then you should call a professional to check your yard.

-- Ants are not only an annoyance, but they can also bring bacteria into your home. Over-the-counter pesticides can be harmful to children, pets, you, and the environment, and they usually don't even work. Don't run out and buy random poisons that could hurt you and your family. The best attack is defense. Bugs come indoors for food and water. Make sure all the food items in your pantry are sealed tight. Check your houseplants. Are you over watering them? The stagnant water that collects in the saucers are perfect watering holes for ants and cockroaches. If you've tried all this and you've still got bugs, it's time to call a professional.
