A new study out of Australia shows people in a negative mood paid more attention to their surroundings and are less gullible than happier people.

A sour mood seems to boost careful thinking and memory, while positive mood seems to promote creativity, flexibility and cooperation.

The study is in the current edition of the Australian Science Journal.
