Chor Boogie says he was stabbed by four people who tried to steal his spray paint while he was busy working on Market Street between Sixth and Seventh.
"What makes me want to come back out? I'm a dedicated artist," he told ABC7. "I'm a truthful artist and I love inspiring the world with my work."
The mural is part of the Art Commission's project to revitalize Market Street and other neighborhoods.
Police are still looking for the suspects.
