The CHP says its crackdown at the Bay Bridge S-curve is paying off.

Accidents have decreased since the agency launched a massive speed enforcement effort, after the early November incident when a truck driver plunged off the bridge.

The accident rate before that crash averaged seven per week - it's since dropped to two per week.

Officers wrote 1,000 tickets in the past few weeks to get drivers to slow to the speed limit there which is 40 miles-per-hour.
