Truck crashes, spills recyclables all over I-80 in SF

SAN FRANCISCO

The crash was reported at 6:16 a.m. on eastbound Interstate Highway 80, just west of Fourth Street, near the Bay Bridge.

CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said a pickup truck carrying recyclables crashed and turned onto its side, spilling bottles and cans all over the roadway.

The driver managed to climb out of the truck after the crash and was not seriously injured, Van Eckhardt said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 6:23 a.m. and several lanes were shut down. All but one lane was reopened at 6:57 a.m. but traffic remained backed up for a long stretch on northbound U.S. Highway 101.

Van Eckhardt recommended that motorists use Interstate Highway 280 instead.
