Officers received a report of shots fired and were alerted by the city's ShotSpotter to the 2200 block of Ralmar Avenue at about 8:40 a.m., East Palo Alto police Capt. Carl Estelle said.
The victim had been shot twice in his lower extremities, and his head was grazed by a bullet as well, Estelle said.
He was transported to Stanford Hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The victim told police he had been warming up his car when an unknown vehicle drove past him and at least one person in the car fired multiple shots at him, according to Estelle.
Police found six shell casings, he said. The investigation is ongoing.
