Poizner files papers to run for governor

SANTA CLARA, CA

Poizner filed his paperwork at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Office a short time ago.

The Republican claims his background as a high-tech entrepreneur makes him the right person to fix California's economy.

He's in favor of a 10 percent cut for all taxes and a 50 percent tax cut on capital gains.

"I want to deploy a series of smart, common-sense conservative solutions that will get this great state back on track. My campaign is about cutting taxes across the board, to bring jobs back to California," he said.

Poizner is battling former eBay CEO Meg Whitman for the Republican nomination. The winner of that race will likely face democrat jerry brown in November.
