Monday, officials at the Willie Brown Junior Academy in the Bayview District discovered the 22-caliber handgun when they were searching students suspected of breaking into a locked classroom and stealing a laptop.
The academy is a college prep school for 4th through 8th graders. School officials say they've never had a gun incident there before.
