Fire burns home owned by SF supe's parents

SAN FRANCISCO

The fire was reported shortly before 9 a.m. at 31 Marietta Drive, San Francisco fire Lt. Ken Smith said.

Firefighters arrived to find thick black smoke and flames coming from the two-story building, and a second-alarm response was activated, Smith said.

The blaze, which also caused minor damage to an adjacent property at 27 Marietta Drive, was controlled at 9:24 a.m., Smith said.

Elsbernd said the home is owned by his parents but is being rented out to a family. He said he heard there was a fire there, but did not have details.

Smith said there was one person inside the home at the time the fire started, but that person escaped without injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
