An Oakland teacher at the eye of a parent boycott last week has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Parents have been complaining about the Lazear Elementary School third-grade teacher for almost two years. His name is not being released.

Parents kept most of the school's 300 students at home last Thursday then set up picket lines at the school and at the district's headquarters.

Parents say he physically and verbally abused his students, and sometimes left them unattended.
