Consumers' Checkbook has been shopping and found prices vary widely and that is especially true with roses.
"The average price at the regular florist is about $50 to $55.00. We found that at supermarkets prices tend to be between $10 to $20. And Checkbook found that even street venders were even less expensive than that," says Robert Krughoff from Checkbook.
If you buy from a street vender, Checkbook says, buy early in the day so flowers aren't so beat up by the elements.
When buying from a florist, make sure the company is more than just an Internet or YellowBook listing.
