Officials say a vicious pit bull sprung from the Alameda animal shelter last week has been brought back to the Bay Area and euthanized.

The dog was found with its owner, Melissa Perry, in a Reno motel Thursday night. She and her boyfriend, Richard Cochran, are accused of breaking "Max" out of the shelter last Wednesday just hours before the dog was to be euthanized under a judge's order.

The pit bull was returned to the shelter on Saturday and the judge's order to put him down was carried out.
