The Los Angeles Time reports that the IRS filed a lien against the property, just two weeks before Maldonado was sworn in as California's second highest-ranking public official.
A spokesman for Maldonado's re-election campaign says the outstanding taxes have to do with a dispute over the use of company vehicles.
