Transportation officials to review Muni pay hikes

SAN FRANCISCO

2,200 workers stand to get a pay hike that will average nearly 6 percent, to nearly $30 an hour. It will cost the agency $8 million dollars.

The city charter effectively says Muni operators must be the second highest-paid transit workers in the country. A reform measure on the November ballot aims to remove that requirement.

Muni operators were the only union that did not make any concessions this year as the city faced a near half-billion dollar deficit.
