Nora Shourd is now appealing for the United Nations human rights panel to intervene with Iranian authorities and move Sarah out of solitary confinement.
Sarah Shourd and two of her friends were arrested one year ago, after crossing the border into Iran while on a hiking trip.
They are accused of spying, but have yet to be charged with a crime.
