Firefighters responded to reports of a burning tire outside 1800 Laguna St. at about 10:50 p.m., the dispatcher said.
The fire spread to the structure, affecting a single apartment in the building, and was contained by 11:32 p.m.
One person was pulled from the apartment and transported to a nearby hospital, but details regarding the extent of the victim's injuries were unavailable.
The circumstances surrounding the fire are under investigation, the dispatcher said.
