The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.5 quake struck at 9:41 a.m. about two miles south-southeast of Ocotillo.
A sheriff's dispatcher says there have been no calls about the quake in the rural area 90 miles east of downtown San Diego.
The Imperial Valley region has been shaken frequently since a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck just south of the border in Mexicali on Easter Sunday, with moderate aftershocks sometimes occurring four or five times a day.
