900 drivers cited during hands-free crackdown

The CHP and police agencies around the Bay Area handed out nearly 900 tickets Tuesday to drivers who were texting or talking on their cell phone without a hands-free device.

Tuesday's state wide crackdown was an effort to remind people about the dangers of distracted driving.

People were even cited if they were caught dialing a number; they are supposed to use a voice-activated dialing system.

Another zero tolerance day is planned for next Wednesday.
