Bicycle shop window smashed, 1 bike stolen

DANVILLE, CA

The truck used to break into the bike shop, a 2001 Ford F-350 flatbed, was reported stolen Wednesday from a parking lot in the 900 block of San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

The truck was found at about 6:10 a.m. Sunday at Danville Bike at 175 Hartz Ave. stuck partially in the shop.

The thief had backed the truck through the store's plate glass window and stolen a Giant Trinity Advanced SL2 bicycle worth $5,050, Shields said.

The underside of the truck had caught on something, raising up the wheels and making it impossible to drive the truck out of the store.

The crash also caused about $3,000 in property damage to the shop.

As of this morning, no one had been arrested. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Shields at (925) 314-3703
