Two men were arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly doing "donuts" on a Concord sports field and causing thousands of dollars in damage, Concord police Cpl. James Carroll said today.

Shortly before 2:15 a.m., police began receiving calls from neighbors reporting that a pickup truck was damaging sports fields at the Boatwright Youth Sports Complex on Alberta Way off of Ygnacio Valley Road, Carroll said.

Responding officers arrested Clayton resident Anthony Granelli, 23, on suspicion of vandalism and drunken driving, and Pleasant Hill resident Steven Smith, 21, on suspicion of vandalism and being drunk in public, Carroll said.

Police estimate that the pair caused thousands of dollars in damage to the field and its irrigation system, Carroll said.
