Man killed by his own gun in taco truck fight

OAKLAND, CA

At 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of a shooting near a taco truck located in the 1400 block of 44th Avenue. Officers found the victim who had been shot, Oakland police Officer Jeff Thomason said.

The man, whose name has not been released, succumbed to his injuries, Thomason said.

The 34-year-old man, an Oakland resident, was apparently also wounded in the shooting and ended up at a hospital in Tracy. He was detained and was being questioned by police this morning, according to Thomason.

Police also responded to two other shootings within 10 minutes of the homicide, but neither of the subsequent shootings proved fatal.

At 9:45 p.m., officers were called across town to the 1200 block of 87th Avenue for a shooting that injured a 40-year-old woman, Thomason said.

She was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, he said.

A second shooting was reported three minutes later in the 4200 block of Foothill Boulevard, injuring one person who was able to travel to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

No arrests have been made in either of the shootings.
