Police have arrested a San Jose man suspected of fatally shooting another San Jose resident Thursday night, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to reports of a man shot in the 2100 block of Hikido Drive at 10:56 p.m. and found a 33-year-old male victim, who had been shot outside the home, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police took a 28-year-old San Jose man who was also at the scene into custody, and Lopez said the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The homicide -- the 19th in San Jose this year -- is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Tony Mata or Detective John Barg at (408) 277-5283. Anonymous calls can be made to the Santa Clara Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
